If you’ve been keeping up with the City of Sarasota Development Reports released by the Sarasota Office of Economic Development, such as the Winter 2018 report we shared last week, you may have noticed a $14.5 million residential project located at 1659 2nd Street off of Fruitville Road called “BOLD Lofts”. This is BOLD Lofts Sarasota, a 97-unit apartment complex marketed as a live-work-play location for young professionals.

Located within walking distance of Main Street and minutes away from the Sarasota Bay, the goal of this complex is to attract young professionals to the downtown area by providing affordable (compared to Downtown Sarasota’s higher end condos and apartments) apartments adjacent to a workplace. The five-story building has a selection of studio, one-bed, two-bed, and three-bed units distributed across the top and bottom four floors. The central third floor is reserved for the complex’s amenities, including a pool with fire pits, an urban garden, and a fitness center.

By having many like-minded young professionals living close to each other, BOLD hopes to create an environment that promotes interactions between young entrepreneurs, perhaps leading to the “next big thing” — or at least some meaningful connections. Units range from $1,240 for 570 SF studios to $3,150 for 1,845 SF three-beds. The building is slated to be complete by August.
