Rosemary District Association To Breathe New Life Into Rosemary District
The Rosemary District Association plans to unify all development projects going forward in the Rosemary District under a new vision. The Rosemary District, the area northeast of the intersection of Fruitville Rd. and US-41 and southeast of the intersection of 10th St. and Orange Ave., is a small and somewhat eccentric slice of Sarasota that is known historically as a place that attracts artists. As new development projects have been proposed in the area, many have feared that the Rosemary District would lose its unique charm and identity without a philosophy to guide the development. To quell these fears, the Rosemary District Strategic Planning Initiative has devised a solution to achieve this philosophy, using nine guiding principles. All future developments will be designed to foster walkability, accessibility, and connectivity, while developing pocket parks, neighborhood activities, and job opportunities, and creating an edgier, exciting, and artistic community. The Rosemary District Association hopes to retain the District’s same uniquely creative spirit, while simultaneously giving the area a much needed structural update.
