Three New Roundabouts Coming To Tamiami Trail By 2020

Tamiami Trail will have three new roundabouts to help alleviate traffic around the Downtown and Fruitville areas in the near future. The first two roundabouts, which will be located on the intersections of Tamiami Trail and 10th Street, and Tamiami Trail and 14th Street, will begin construction this November. Later on, construction will begin on a third roundabout, located on the corner of Tamiami Trail and Fruitville Road. The three roundabouts are scheduled to be complete by April 2020 and will cost $8 million to build. Two lanes of traffic will be open at each of the three intersections throughout construction, though the project will cause some congestion until they are completed. The three roundabouts are part of a plan to build sixteen new roundabouts throughout the city over the next six years.
